Stowe Triathlon

Stowe completed, rubbish time but that doesn't matter !

Lynn also raised £75 with a bucket and some chocolate brownies :o)

Rob completed the neolithic marathon.
An update will follow in due course

The Bath Beat

Starting on the southeastern edge of the city The Bath Beat takes the walker or runner out into the coutryside through the woods, hills and river valleys of this southerly edge of The Cotswolds.

Another tough one, but all finished ok.
Rough time 5hrs 55min, which was within the top 50 of those participating in the 26.7 mile route.
Considering the route, having to navigate, and being predominantly off road, not bad going.

Last marathon event for now, Triathlon next.

Colins Update

Just a bit of an all round up date on the progress of 'The Big Yomp Challenge' to date.
This weekend is 'The Bath Beat' for Rob and I, another 26+ mile event !
It will be the last event both of us will do together, as we then go our separate ways doing
different events ( mostly due to shift working restraints and my favouring triathlons!).

At time of writing, we have are over £1,000 raised and on schedule for our target of £2,500.
I almost have a full calendar now having just entered the Bristol half marathon on the 30th
of September ( day before departure to Kilimanjaro! ).

Just August to fill and I have my eye on an event organised by the fire service
in Salisbury on the 12th.

Exciting adventure of 'the yomper' in an attempt to get him to the Falklands on this
30th anniversary year, details to follow soon hopefully. We will take him on his first public
appearance at 'The Bath Beat' this weekend.

We are still 'headline news' on commando999 web site: here

Grateful for any assistance in spreading word of 'the big yomp challenge' wider.

Thank you for your support.

The Epic Journey

We are now also part of a 'joint venture' with Mike Cole and Dave McPherson.
They are going to take 'the yomper' with them and on the actual route
taken by 45 Commando in 1982.
We just need to get him to them when they leave from Brize Norton in May

Big Yomper

The Big Yomper has arrived.

Courtesy of Ballantynes of Walkerburn, the big yomper will be accompanying us and other fundraisers on events all over the world as a reminder to us and a signal to others why we are beasting, challenging, yomping, baking and fundraising.
When threaders, look to the big yomper!!

Commando Cakes.

CAKE SALE -
Home cooking takes us over the £1,000 mark.
Cakes have also started to make appearances at briefings all over the force areas.
Who said the police only ate Donuts?

Jurrassic Coast Challenge

It's the monster Jurassic Coast Challenge, 3 marathons in 3 days.
A true challenge...Nearly 90 miles completed.  Another triumph for the Running Men.

Billed as ' the mother of all hilly runs '

website here
78.6miles, 3days, 2 feet.
Not feeling this was enough, we did over 83 ( due to small navigational glitches ! )
Only 130 people completed this challenge which is an indication of how tough it really is.

23-25th March 2012

Dursley Dozen

12 miles multi terrain run.
Completed - More porridge required

12th February 2012

Riverbank Rollick

First 'Challenge' completed. In perfect conditions, the 9(ish) miles Riverbank Rollick saw Rob and I with some 'niggles' to deal with. My garmin ran out of battery and my attempt at using a video camera while running resembled something from the blai witch project! Rob forgot his camera and - didn't eat enough porridge! That aside, a good first event excellently organised by Thornbury. Dursley dozen next, try and iron out those niggles and get some photos and video footage :0
